I’m So Glad To See You

In the spring of 2024, my grandmother made the brave decision to die with dignity. As she looked into her future, she made the most intentional and devoted decision one could ever be tasked with making. To end their own life on their own terms.

Over the course of the following week and a half, in the comfort of her small studio apartment, she gradually limited her intake of food and water. As I sat beside her on the grey carpeted floor of the assisted living home, holding her delicate papery hand, I asked if I could make a few final portraits of her in her room. She nodded.
